Agriculture

Agriculture is one of the most important components of Bruce County’s economy, involving over 3,750 farm operators who generate over $255 million in gross sales annually. There is also a wide variety of supporting and processing industries which are related to the production of food. The diversity of farming operations in the County has created a truly breath-taking rural landscape and is a tribute to the pride that local residents have in their land.

Bruce County is well-known as a stunning tourism destination: Bruce Peninsula National Park, Fathom Five National Marine Park and idyllic beaches have all experienced exceptional tourism growth and offer many opportunities for the adventurous entrepreneur. 

Commerical / Industrial Development

Bruce County offers a wide range of commercial and industrial lands ready for development. Most of this land has excellent highway access and flexible zoning to reduce unnecessary red tape. Bruce County’s urban business parks can accommodate a diverse range of commercial and industrial activities. There is room to grow and prosper within Bruce County.

Manufacturing

Bruce County is proud of its manufacturing diversity. The backbone of this economic sector, representing 87% of all manufacturers, is the small shops, employing under 10 persons. Our manufacturing businesses are located throughout the County in the small towns and villages as well as in the rural townships. Bruce County prides itself on creating a positive economic environment for industrial diversification.

Retail and Service

Bruce County is home to a thriving retail trade and service industry. Between 1990 and 1995, 394 new businesses were added to this sector, representing nearly a 28% increase in the number of firms. From quaint artisan enclaves to major retail stores, residents and visitors alike are able to enjoy a diversity in shopping opportunities that can only be found in small town Bruce County. The local economy also boasts a quality business service industry including the majority of Canada’s financial institutions.
