• Ability to lift heavy materials up to 30 lbs

Applications are being accepted for Permanent Part-time Registered Nurses (RN), Registered Practical Nurses (RPN) and Personal Support Workers (PSW) at Gateway Haven in Wiarton, Ontario. Successful candidates will be expected to be available for all three shifts, weekend work and 'call-ins'. Candidates for RN and RPN must be registered with, or qualify for a temporary licence, with the College of Nurses of Ontario. For all positions, previous experience in long term care is a definite asset. The Temporary Full-Time RN position is expected to end in June of 2012 or upon the actual return date of the incumbent from their leave.

Registered Nurses and Registered Practical Nurses
Successful candidates must be knowledgeable in terms of medication administration and pharmacology, especially relative to our frail and elderly residents. They must possess excellent documentation skills and the ability to plan, implement and evaluate resident care, applying best practice guidelines in a Long Term Care (LTC) setting.

Applicants must have strong leadership, oral and written communication skills, organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work interdependently. Computer skills are essential. Familiarity using Point Click Care is an asset as is knowledge and experience with the MDS/RAI and the new LTC Act and regulations.

The successful incumbents will be expected to assume responsibility in a variety of areas including participation on committees.

Personal Support Workers
PSW applicants must have a Personal Support Worker Certificate. The successful candidates will deliver resident focused nursing care in a physically demanding environment and exhibit strong communication and interpersonal skills. Point of Care (POC) experience is an asset.

Applications are currently being accepted for Part Time Registered Nurses.  The successful candidates will supervise the direct care given to residents in our new, state of the art facility, which includes a wireless documentation system.  Our Long Term Care facilities have wage parity with Ontario hospitals, with a current part-time salary range of $33.18 to $47.96/hour (including percentage in lieu of benefits). Part-time employees can qualify to join the pension plan after as little as two years.  All nurses are expected to be available on a reasonable basis for call-ins, and available to work all three shifts and every other weekend.
