The Town of Saugeen Shores and the County of Bruce are preparing main street design guidelines to improve development along the commercial corridor in Port Elgin and Southampton. Since the June 2009 workshop, the design team has been working tirelessly to pull together all the community feedback into a working set of design guidelines and they are now ready for final review.
To refresh your memory, the guidelines outline a design vision to improve the look and feel of our community and provide recommendations for achieving it along Highway 21 and High Street.
The intent is that these guidelines be embraced by the development industry and the community as well as Town Council, staff and committees, and that with time, we will begin to see the fruits of our combined effort to ensure that our community develops in an attractive and appealing manner.
We thank you for your input through the public review period and the public workshop. The guidelines will be presented at the December 14th Council meeting for consideration.
