Application

The waiting list reports current applicants waiting for rent geared to income or market rent housing across the county. The list reports each municipality, separating those without dependents, with dependents and seniors (60 plus). If there are any vacant units they will be shown on the right column. The total number of applicants is reported at the bottom of the report.

The waiting list is updated monthly.

Completing Your Application

Complete the application by following the instructions attached and supply Bruce County Community Housing with all of the requested information. Please make sure your application is complete.

Bruce County Community Housing Registry will then direct your application to the housing providers indicated on your application. Individual housing providers will then review your application and contact you to assess your eligibility.

All applicants are responsible for keeping their application up-to-date. Any change in family status, address, telephone number, household income, etc.requires that you notify Bruce County Community Housing within 10 days.

The application for Rental Accommodation must be signed by all persons in the household 16 years and older.

All persons 16 years and older must provide a photocopy of their birth certificate.

ALL INCOMPLETE AND UNSIGNED APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE PROCESSED.

Waiting List

The selection of applicants from the waiting list for housing is based on the date of application.

Women and their families who have experienced abuse and are eligible are given special priority status. Call the office at (519)396-3439 for information.

Supportive Housing

What is supportive housing?

The role of VON's supportive housing is to maintain an individuals' independence in a residential setting as an alternative to long-term careplacement in retirement or nursing homes.

Who is eligible for supportive housing?

People over the age of 65 years of age, or people with cognitive impairments or with debilitating chronic illness who require personal supportive services andhomemaking availability 24 hours a day are eligible.

How are the services accessed?

VON's services can be accessed through the Grey Bruce Community Care Access Centre at (519) 371-2112 or 1-888-371-2112. A case manager from the CCAC willcome and complete an assessment of eligibility.
There is no fee for the services provided by VON, as funding is provided through the Ministry of Health, Long Term Care Division.

Where are the services available?

In partnership with Bruce County Community Housing Registry, VON offers supportive housing services in two locations in Bruce County, Port Elgin and Southampton. Bruce County Community Housing Registry office offersgeared-to-income rental accommodations appropriate to individual needs.
