Nursing Services
Registered Nurses are on duty at the Homes twenty-four hours a day. The nursing department is responsible for the direct nursing care of the residents. The goal of the nursing department is to assist the residents and help them achieve and maintain their highest levels of independence. Each resident is given the opportunity to participate in the planning of his/her personal care according to the individual’s level of desire and ability and this is reflected in the resident’s individual care plan.
When appropriate, the Clinical Care Coordinator arranges Hospice Care and initiates the Palliative Care Program called "End of Life". This is a program designed to ensure a comfortable transition for the resident and their family members and friends.
We are very proud to say that Both Gateway Haven and Brucelea Haven are Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO) Best Practice Spotlight Organization designates beginning in 2017. This means that all staff are committed to providing residents with the best possible care using evidence-based best practices.
