End of Summer Cultural Demonstration Day at the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre August 28

The Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre (BCM&CC) invites visitors on August 28 to learn about local Indigenous heritage through a special day of cultural demonstrations.

The Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre (BCM&CC) invites visitors on August 28 to learn about local Indigenous heritage through a special day of cultural demonstrations. Happening from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the BCM&CC welcomes:

  • Chef Zach Keeshig: Celebrated Owen Sound local and chef known for his Naagan dining experience, incorporating contemporary culinary techniques with Indigenous cuisine and culture, Chef Zach will showcase how he processes locally harvested duck from forest to plate. Sample his creations and take home a piece of local flavour.
  • Parks Canada: Representing Bruce Peninsula National Park and Fathom Five National Marine Park, Parks Canada will be on site to teach us all about turtles, including biological fun facts, their conservation, and the cultural significance they hold for the Saugeen Ojibway Nation (SON) Peoples.
  • Elder Shirley John: Local Saugeen First Nation elder Shirley John will be joining us in the Anishnaabwe Endaat Gallery to share elder teachings.
  • Dorothy Ladd and Southampton Horticultural Society: Enjoy a reading of the beautifully illustrated Memengwaa, the Monarch Butterfly, by Saugeen First Nation Author Dorothy Ladd and learn about the butterfly tagging process with the Southampton Horticultural Society and Patti Byers of the Monarch Teacher Network.
