Development Charges

Development Charges (DCs) assist in financing capital projects required to meet the increased need for services resulting from growth and development. DCs may only be used for the purpose for which they are collected. The County approved collecting DCs for new development to reduce the cost to taxpayers for improvements to our services due to new population growth including; Paramedic Services, Roadways and Bridges, Parks and Trails, Childcare, and Long-Term Care.

Without DCs, the bill for increasing or improving services gets added to the property taxes of current residents. DCs are payable at the time a building permit is issued.
