Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre to host Uniform, Weapons & Equipment Show commemorating 80th D-Day Anniversary

This year marks the 80th anniversary of the historic D-Day invasion, a pivotal event during World War II that changed the course of history. In honour of the bravery and sacrifices of those who served, the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre will host a special event: Honouring D-Day: Uniforms, Weapons & Equipment Show on Saturday, November 2, 2024.

This year marks the 80th anniversary of the historic D-Day invasion, a pivotal event during World War II that changed the course of history. In honour of the bravery and sacrifices of those who served, the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre will host a special event: Honouring D-Day: Uniforms, Weapons & Equipment Show on Saturday, November 2, 2024.

Local historian and avid WWII collector Alexander Peroff will present a remarkable display of authentic artefacts from both the Canadian and Axis armed forces. This is a rare chance to witness history up close, offering attendees a unique, tangible connection to the past through uniforms, weapons, and other military equipment used during WWII.

The event is designed to cater to both adults and families, with two distinct sessions:

  • 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Artefact Show & Tell for Kids & Families (Ages 8-12)
    This interactive session will allow younger audiences to engage with history with a show and tell period and an artefact identification activity.
  • 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM: Teens & Adults Presentation in Bruce Power Theatre
    For a deeper historical dive, Alexander Peroff will deliver a presentation in the Bruce Power Theatre, followed by an in-depth artefact show and tell.

About Alexander Peroff
Alexander Peroff, the owner and operator of the traveling museum “Frontline Journeys,” has dedicated his career to making history accessible and engaging for all ages. For over 15 years, Peroff has been collecting artifacts related to Canada’s contributions during World War II. Frontline Journeys offers a unique opportunity for individuals to explore history hands-on, ensuring that the stories of all Canadians during this period are remembered and appreciated by future generations.

Managing all aspects of Frontline Journeys, Peroff curates exhibits, maintains collections, and organizes educational programs and events. His fiancée, Kayla, plays a crucial role in curating the collection and cataloguing pieces, contributing to the museum’s success.
