No Injuries Reported at 659 Arlington Street Fire in Port Elgin

At approximately 5:30 AM on Sunday, January 12, 2025, a fire was reported at 659 Arlington Street, Port Elgin. This is a residential apartment building in Port Elgin, operated by Bruce County Housing Corporation.

On arrival, local Saugeen Shores firefighters identified a single-unit fire on the second floor of the building. A full building evacuation took place. Crews were on scene until approximately 7:15 AM, at which time tenants were able to return to their homes.

There have been no reported injuries. Victim Services is assisting tenants impacted.

Bruce County wishes to thank Saugeen Shores Police Service, the Saugeen Shores volunteer fire department, and Victim Services for their support on the scene.

Staff of the Housing Facilities and Housing Services teams of the Human Services Department will work on building remediation and serving tenants’ immediate needs.
