Service Interruption - National Canada Post Job Action

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) began strike action on September 25th, 2025. Canada Post has shut down service in response. This means a full stoppage of their mail and parcel deliveries across Canada.
This will have some impact to service delivery for Bruce County. Alternatives to postal services are available for many program areas. Here is what you can expect:
Human Services and Bruce County Housing Corporation
Please do not put essential information and rent payments in the mail at this time. We are happy to assist you in-person where you may pay your rent by cash or cheque or submit paperwork. Visit one of our office Hubs:
- Penetangore Place - 529 Gary Street, Kincardine
- Lakeshore Hub - 1243 Mackenzie Road, Port Elgin
- Administration Centre - 30 Park Street, Walkerton
- Peninsula Hub - 268 Berford Street, Wiarton

Ontario Works
Clients may sign up online for MyBenefits. This service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through desktop, tablets, or mobile phones. It allows clients to send and receive messages, submit documents, check the status of payments, receive letters, and to report changes.

Planning application notices will continue in accordance with the Planning Act, but may arrive via courier services or hand delivery.
Bruce County Public Library
We are pausing the Borrow by Mail program for the duration of the strike.
There may be an impact to the delivery of interlibrary loan requests. Please return interlibrary loan materials to their local branch by their due dates.

Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre
Send mail by courier or drop it off at the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre during regular office hours. For after hours delivery, please use the exterior mail drop box.

Vendor Services
There is an impact to payments made by cheque to our vendors. We will contact individual vendors to set-up Electronic Funds Transfers (EFT) if this is not already in place. You may proactively contact us by e-mail to set-up EFT payments.
Vendors who choose not to use EFT may pick their cheques up at the Walkerton Administration Centre. Please contact the accounts payable team at 519-881-1291 or by e-mail to confirm payments are ready for pick-up.
Economic Development

Invoices may be e-mailed.
You may deliver moving permit cheques to the Administration Centre at 30 Park Street in Walkerton.
