Each spring, Bruce County undertakes roadside vegetation management to help keep County roads safe while controlling noxious and invasive weeds along roadsides.

Noxious weeds are a risk to livestock, agricultural land and people.

Our contractor, Greenstream, will apply herbicides to control noxious weeds along Bruce County rural roadsides. This work falls under the Public Works Exception of the Cosmetics Pesticides Ban for the promotion of public health or safety.

Spraying will occur on the following Bruce County Roads: Bruce Road 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 12, 15, 19, 20, 22, 23, 28, 86 and 6E.

Spraying will start on May 11, 2026, weather permitting, and conclude June 30, 2026.

Spraying is only on unmaintained ditches, not on yards or ditches which property owners are maintaining. If you are a property landowner who does not want their unmaintained ditch sprayed, contact our Transportation and Environmental Services team for more information

Local municipalities and the province may also be spraying weeds on roads which they maintain. Please check with them for information about their weed control practices.
