Bruce County Council Highlights for March 19, 2026

These are highlights of the meeting:
Bruce, Dufferin, Grey, Wellington Regional Transit Study Update and Engagement
There was a report and presentation reviewing preliminary options and next steps in the ongoing Bruce, Dufferin, Grey Wellington Regional Transit Study following the first round of engagement over the winter.
Council reviewed results from the public engagement and provided feedback on a series of questions about transit options, governance models, and what key measures for success should be in place to mitigate risk and limited or lost funding.
Dillon Consulting will take feedback from the meeting and return to drafting a plan for presentation to each of the partnering County Councils and the Saugeen Mobility and Regional Transit (SMART) Board for May 2026.

Grey Bruce Local Immigration Partnership (GBLIP) Community Action Plan and Annual Update
The Grey Bruce Local Immigration Partnership (GBLIP) presented a report and their Community Action Plan 2025-2028.
GBLIP is a collaborative response between Counties initiated in 2019 in response to growing labour challenges across the region. Funded by the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), the community-driven planning approach is promoting inclusion, fostering collaboration in the region and supporting economic vitality.
Council endorsed the Action Plan which continues to build on this, focusing on three strategic priorities:
- Fostering community collaboration
- Employer engagement and workforce integration
- Welcoming communities

New Bruce County Official Plan Changes for Direction
Bruce County staff brought a report with more options for Council’s consideration as they continue working on the Draft New Bruce County Official Plan.
Council reviewed recommendations with respect to Indigenous engagement and archaeology, changes identified in consultation with local municipalities, and alignment with federal and provincial legislation.
Staff will continue to work through the comments from municipal partners and the public, refining the draft plan and returning to future Council meetings for further direction.
