Prepared together: Emergency Preparedness Week runs May 3 to 9
Emergency Preparedness Week occurs each spring with communities across Ontario taking time to focus on emergency readiness. This year, from May 3 to 9, 2026, let’s get Prepared Together, a reminder that we stay safer when we plan, prepare and respond as a community.
Emergencies affect everyone. Power outages, extreme weather and other unexpected events test our infrastructure, our systems and our communities. Municipal staff, first responders, community organizations, businesses and residents all play an important role. Strong coordination between partners keeps our communities safe, resilient and ready.
“Emergency preparedness is not just a plan on paper. It’s people helping people, checking in on neighbours and knowing how to act when it matters most,” says Ray Lux, Bruce County’s emergency management coordinator. “Small steps at home, combined with strong partnerships across the county, help keep our communities safe.”
Bruce County works side by side with municipalities, the Province of Ontario, trusted community partners and residents. When we prepare together, we build a safer, more resilient community.
Throughout Emergency Preparedness Week, Bruce County will spotlight simple, practical ways we can prepare, together. We will share tips and resources showing how residents and partners can strengthen emergency plans and support each other during a crisis.
