NOTICE: Full Closure of Durham Street Bridge, Walkerton

A complete closure of Durham Street Bridge in Walkerton will begin at 10 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2026.

Please take notice that there will be a full bridge closure on Durham Street Bridge in Walkerton.

The closure will begin at 10 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2026. It will reopen at approximately 4 a.m. on Friday, June 12, 2026. Signage will be in place to support detouring during the closure and as alternative routes following the closure as work continues.

Alternative Route for Motorists and Commercial Vehicles:

South of Walkerton

Heading northeast on Durham Street

  • Head southwest on Durham St/Bruce Road 4.
  • Turn left onto Jackson St/Bruce Road 4.
  • Continue onto Highway 9.
  • Turn left onto Concession 10. Continue on Concession 10.
  • In Neustadt, turn left on David Winkler Parkway/Grey Road 10. 
  • Continue on Grey Road 10.
  • In Hanover, turn left on 10th Street/Bruce Road 4.
  • Continue on Bruce Road 4. 
  • Continue to Walkerton. 

Heading southwest to Durham Street/downtown Walkerton

  • Head northeast on Durham St/Bruce Road 4.
  • In Hanover, turn right onto 7th Avenue. Continue onto 2nd Street and continue onto 10th Avenue. 
  • Continue onto Grey Road 10. 
  • In Neustadt, turn right onto Mill Street/Concession 10. 
  • Continue on Concession 10.
  • Turn right on Highway 9. 
  • Continue to Yonge Street/Bruce Road 4 in Walkerton.
  • Turn right onto Durham Street/Bruce Road 4.

North of Walkerton 

Heading northeast on Durham Street

  • Head southwest on Durham Street.
  • Continue onto Bruce County Road 2.
  • Turn right on Bruce County Road 3.
  • Continue on Bruce County Road 3.
  • Turn right onto Concession 8.
  • Continue on Concession 8.
  • Turn right onto Bruce County Road 19.
  • Continue on Bruce County Road 19.
  • Turn right onto Bruce County Road 4.

Heading southwest towards Durham Street/downtown Walkerton

  • Head northeast on Durham Street/ Bruce County Road 4.
  • Turn left onto Bruce County Road 19.
  • Continue on Bruce County Road 19.
  • Turn left onto Concession 8.
  • Continue on Concession 8.
  • Turn left onto Bruce County Road 3.
  • Continue on Bruce County Road 3.
  • Turn left on Bruce County Road 2.
  • Continue on Bruce County Road 2 and onto Durham Street.

 

Once the full closure ends, the bridge will return to alternating traffic with a single lane closure utilizing temporary traffic lights. Motorists and pedestrians are asked to use alternate routes.

Please drive with caution and patience and follow posted signage – for your own safety and the safety of construction crews.
