Bruce County Council Highlights

Bruce County Council met on Thursday, November 5, 2026. The complete agenda and video of the meeting are available on our Agendas and Minutes webpage.

These are highlights of the meeting:

Government Relations and Advocacy Priorities

Council endorsed Bruce County’s ongoing government relations and advocacy priorities, which focus on issues such as community paramedicine, housing and homelessness, court security funding, regional transportation, conservation authority governance and energy development.

Council also supported six delegation requests for the 2027 Rural Ontario Municipal Association (ROMA) Conference and directed staff to continue advancing these priorities through partnerships with provincial and federal governments.

Indigenous Cultural Belongings Project

Council received an update on the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre’s Indigenous Cultural Belongings Project and approved the repatriation of identified belongings.

Working in partnership with the Saugeen Ojibway Nation Environment Office and the Great Lakes Research Alliance for the Study of Aboriginal Arts and Cultures (GRASAC), Museum staff worked to better understand the origins, history and ownership of Indigenous cultural items in the collection.

The project supports Bruce County’s commitment to reconciliation. It helps ensure cultural belongings are cared for respectfully and that their repatriation is prioritized.

Formosa Seniors Non-Profit Housing Upgrades

Council approved a funding agreement with Formosa Seniors Non-Profit Accommodations through the Canada-Ontario Community Housing Initiative (COCHI) to support capital repairs and upgrades.

The project will receive $147,000 for improvements including hallway flooring, steel gutters and fencing. The funding will help maintain affordable housing, support building renewal and improve living spaces for residents.
