Bruce County Council Highlights for October 1, 2026
Bruce County Council met on Thursday, October 1, 2026. The complete agenda and video of the meeting are available on our Agendas and Minutes webpage.
These are highlights of the meeting:
Bruce-Dufferin-Grey-Wellington Unified Regional Transit Study Draft
Council received the draft Bruce-Dufferin-Grey-Wellington Unified Regional Transit Study, which examines the feasibility of creating a coordinated regional transit network across Bruce, Dufferin, Grey, and Wellington counties and includes Saugeen Mobility (SMART) as a study partner. The study proposes a unified system that would connect communities through fixed-route and on-demand transit services, supported by a shared governance model and integrated fare structure. Staff will return with recommendations for Council's consideration in early 2027, following further review of the study's service, governance, and funding proposals.
New Public Dashboard for Strategic Progress Reporting
Council received a report on the launch of a new public dashboard for strategic progress reporting. The online dashboard provides Council, staff, and residents with access to quarterly updates on Strategic Plan Actions and departmental key performance indicators (KPIs) through a centralized, user-friendly platform. The dashboard enhances transparency and accessibility by making strategic progress information available online and will be updated quarterly to align with Council reporting cycles.
Bruce County Housing and Homelessness Plan 2026-2036
Following the presentation of the Housing and Homelessness Plan 2025 Progress Report, Council reviewed the proposed Bruce County Housing and Homelessness Plan 2026-2036, a 10-year strategic framework developed in accordance with the Housing Services Act, 2011, to guide the County's housing and homelessness programs, services, partnerships, and investments through 2036. The Plan identifies key housing and homelessness needs, establishes priorities, goals, and targets. It outlines a coordinated approach to addressing housing affordability, homelessness prevention, supportive housing, and access to services. Council directed staff to amend the Plan as presented before submitting it to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing for review.
