Bruce County Public Library is seeking community members to serve on Library Board
Bruce County Public Library (BCPL) is looking for community-minded residents to help guide the future of library services across Bruce County. BCPL is seeking applications from individuals interested in serving as one of three Public Trustee.
The Board provides strategic leadership and governance for BCPL. It sets the Library’s vision and priorities, approves the policies, oversees financial stewardship and advocates for public library services. They also support and evaluate the Library Director/Chief Executive Officer who manages the Library’s day-to-day operations.
The BCPL Library Board includes four members of Bruce County Council in addition to the three Public Trustees. Preference may be given to appointing trustees to ensure equal representation from three geographic areas:
- Inland: Arran-Elderslie, Brockton and South Bruce
- Coastline: Huron-Kinloss, Kincardine and Saugeen Shores
- North: South Bruce Peninsula and Northern Bruce Peninsula
“Public libraries are more than just books. They play an important role in building strong, informed and connected communities,” said Bruce County Director of Library Services Brooke McLean. “Serving as a Public Trustee is an opportunity for residents who care about life-long learning and community growth to make a difference.”
BCPL welcomes applications from people with a variety of lived experiences, professional backgrounds and community connections. Ideal candidates believe in the value of public libraries, think strategically, work collaboratively and support the principles of intellectual freedom.
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
- Live in Bruce County.
- Not be employed by Bruce County, Bruce County Public Library or one of the eight local municipalities.
Interested residents can learn more and apply on our Become a Library Board Trustee webpage. Applications are open until November 5, 2026.
Bruce County Council will make appointments at their meeting on December 17, 2026.
