Reminder: New emergency dispatch system launches October 14
As a reminder, Bruce County residents who call 9-1-1 for a medical emergency will notice a new triage process beginning tomorrow, October 14, 2026.
Bruce County Paramedic Services will begin following the Medical Priority Dispatch System (MPDS), an internationally recognized system that helps dispatchers assess medical emergencies, prioritize calls based on urgency, and provide pre-arrival instructions when needed.
Residents may notice dispatchers asking additional questions during a 9-1-1 call. These questions help determine the appropriate response and do not delay care. In many cases, emergency responders will already be on their way while the caller continues to provide information.
For full details about the change and what residents can expect, read the original media release. Additional information is available on Bruce County’s Medical Priority Dispatch System webpage.
