Bruce C Nuclear Project Update – Q2 2026

Council received an update on Bruce County’s involvement in the Bruce C Nuclear Project. Staff continue to review studies, participate in the federal Impact Assessment process, and work with local municipalities and partners on community readiness planning. Ongoing projects include growth forecasting, housing and transportation readiness assessments, and regional planning efforts to help prepare for the potential impacts of future population and employment growth associated with the proposed project.

Homelessness Response and System Pressures

Council received a report updating them on the growing pressures in Bruce County’s homelessness response system. Demand for emergency housing has increased significantly, with more people staying in temporary accommodation for longer periods. This is largely due to a lack of affordable and supportive housing options, a trend seen across the nation. Staff are continuing prevention, outreach, housing stabilization, and community partnership efforts while working to address these challenges and support individuals experiencing homelessness.

Further information and long-term strategies will be included in the County’s upcoming Housing and Homelessness Plan Progress Report to be presented at an upcoming meeting.

Museum Strategic Plan 2027-2030

Council received a report presenting the new Museum Strategic Plan (2027-2030). The plan was developed through community surveys, stakeholder engagement, staff input, and research to help guide the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre over the next four years. The plan focuses on expanding the Museum’s role as a community hub, reaching more residents across the County, and improving operations and decision-making. Council chose to endorse the Museum Strategic Plan (2027-2030).
