Bruce County offers a variety of paid summer positions for students who are returning to school in the fall. Visit the Employment Page for eligibility requirements and to apply. These positions are generally posted early in the year.

Human Services also offers unpaid placements. To be considered, you need to be enrolled in a school/academic program which requires an unpaid placement as part of the program.

Unpaid Student Placements are in:

Human Services Cross-Divisional

  • Students could provide client service to the public, respond to client's requests for information, provide administrative support for programs and client services across a variety of programs.
  • These placements are based out of our Kincardine, Walkerton and/or other community locations.

Children’s Services

  • Early Childhood Education field placements are available in EarlyON and Special Needs Resource Programs.
  • These placements require full-time working hours Monday to Friday and are community based. Students will need to be fully available throughout this time.

Bruce County Human Services provides a range of integrated programs to support the well-being of people in our communities. We embrace an equitable and person centred approach in our delivery of services, that include:

  • Early learning programs and supports for licensed child care
  • Financial and stability supports
  • Housing and homelessness supports
  • Strategic community initiatives

We all have a role in helping others, and our priority is to ensure everyone feels valued and included.

Begin the placement process by completing the Unpaid Student Placement Application and submitting it with a copy of the student’s resume to: HuSinfo@brucecounty.on.ca. Resumes are used to learn about education and work experiences to better prepare for the student’s orientation.

Applications will be considered for fit of the requested placement, number of unpaid student placement requests, availability of staff and program needs. Human Services will do its best to match student's areas of interest to placements, but this isn't always possible.

Student applicants may be interviewed to collect further information and determine if the student has the knowledge, skills and abilities to complete the placement successfully.

Human Services will confirm or decline unpaid student placement requests with the school or student depending on which initiated the request.

To allow sufficient time for coordination, it is recommended that requests for unpaid student placements are submitted as follows:
