Environmental Sustainability Action Plan
The ESAP outlines practical, collaborative actions to strengthen environmental stewardship, support climate-readiness, and promote long‑term sustainability across the region.
Environmental Sustainability Action Plan 2026-2030
Bruce County’s natural environment, including its farmland, coastlines, forests, wetlands, and water systems, is central to community well‑being, economic vitality, and quality of life. At the same time, climate change, growth pressures, and evolving regulatory and funding environments are increasing the complexity of environmental decision‑making.
The Environmental Sustainability Action Plan (ESAP) 2026-2030 provides a coordinated framework to guide environmental action across the County. Building on the Bruce County Strategic Plan 2023-2026, the ESAP translates corporate priorities and values into clear goals, objectives, and actions that can be implemented incrementally, measured, and adapted over time.
The ESAP establishes a five‑year roadmap to help Bruce County prepare for changing environmental conditions, strengthen community resilience, and support coordinated decision‑making across departments and with local and regional partners.
Environmental Pillars
The ESAP is organized around four environmental pillars. Each pillar includes a goal and supporting objectives that guide the County’s approach to environmental sustainability.
- Climate Adaptation and Mitigation
- Stewardship and Forest Conservation
- Waste Management
- Sustainable Transportation and Mobility
