Transportation and Environmental Services

The Bruce County Transportation and Environmental Services Department has approximately 691 km of road and approximately 148 bridges under its jurisdiction. The department administers a road system composed of 'collector and arterial' roads, which distinguishes the County system from the local municipal road system. This system provides a consistent level of service between local urban, industrial, commercial and recreational centres. The Transportation and Environmental Services Department also coordinates Waste Management for the County.

  • UPDATE: Motorists Advised to Stay Off Closed Roads (February 18, 2025)
    Snow squalls continue across our region on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 and Bruce County is advising motorists to stay off closed roads. All County-managed roadways are closed.
  • Notice: County Administration Buildings Closed due to weather (February 18, 2025)
    Please take notice that the Bruce County Administration Centre in Walkerton, the Lakeshore Hub in Port Elgin, the Peninsula Hub in Wiarton, the Penetangore Hub in Kincardine, and the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre in Southampton, as well as all Bruce County Public Library Branches, and all EarlyON Child and Family Centres will be closed on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 due to inclement weather and road conditions. Virtual customer service is available.
