Bruce County Council and Committees met on July 7, 2022 beginning at 9:30 AM in a summer session in Wiarton and virtually through Teams. Video recordings of the meetings can be reviewed at www.brucecounty.on.ca/government/agendas-and-minutes

Bruce County Council Meeting

  • This Council Meeting was held in the Town of South Bruce Peninsula at 315 George Street, Wiarton, Ontario. The first Council Meeting in July is often held in the Warden’s home municipality. 


Bruce County Council approved:

  • A by-law to authorize the execution of an Ontario Transfer Payment Agreement – Integrated Employment Services between Her Majesty the Queen in right of Ontario, as represented by the Minister of Labour, Training and Skills Development and Bruce County.
  • A by-law to authorize the execution of an Ontario Transfer Payment Amending Agreement between Her Majesty the Queen in right of Ontario as represented by the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing and Bruce County for the Canada-Ontario Community Housing Initiative (COCHI).
  • A by-law to authorize the execution of a Detour Route Agreement between Bruce County and the Municipality of Arran-Elderslie.
  • A by-law to authorize the execution of an Agreement between Bruce County and James Special Services Inc.
  • A by-law to provide for the installation of Stop signs at intersections.
  • A by-law to regulate the lands known as the ‘Bruce County Rail Trail’ and ‘County Forests’.
  • A by-law to authorize speed limits on the Bruce County Road System and in construction zones. 
  • A by-law to adopt Amendment Number C-2022-006 to the Bruce County Official Plan.
  • A By-law to Authorize the Execution of an Amendment to the Agreement of Purchase and Sale with Character Dairy Genetics Limited for the property being Part of Lot 21 Concession 9 Carrick, South Bruce, which shall be identified as Part(s) on a registered Reference Plan for registration purposes, and being part of PIN 33208-0127 (LT).
  • A By-Law to Appoint a Municipal Law Enforcement Officer to enforce the Forest Recreation By-Law 2022-064 of Bruce County.

Executive Committee

  • Committee approved the Delegation of Powers and Duties Policy Changes. Report
  • Committee approved the findings in the Ombudsman’s Closed Meeting Report of May 2022. The Committee also approved that the September 21, 2017 and the September 6, 2018 Executive Committee Closed Minutes and agenda attachments will be made public with no redactions, that the January 10, 2019 Executive Committee Closed Minutes and agenda attachments will be made public, with the exception of the discussion related to personal matters about an identifiable individual which will be redacted from both the minutes and the report, and that the August 2, 2018 Executive Committee Closed minutes, report, and attachments will not be made public. Report
  • Committee approved the Timing of Adoption of County Official Plan Amendments. Committee gave direction to the Office of the CAO to explore a Committee of the Whole system option and report back to Committee. Report
  • Committee received a report on the Grey Bruce Board of Health Member Term. Report

Corporate Services Committee

  • Committee approved that the $1,000,000 set aside in the Insurance Reserve pending an increase in the County’s cyber security insurance be returned to the Tax Stabilization Reserve. Report
  • Committee approved that the County continues its involvement in the Regional Electric Vehicle Strategy Partnership and enter into agreements with participating partner municipalities to move forward with next steps as outlined in the roadmap. Report
  • Committee received the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation 2021 Annual Report. Report

Workplace Engagement Services Committee

  • Committee approved the “Workplace Engagement Services” department name change to “Human Resources”. The change and related job title updates will be communicated to the organization. Report

Museum Committee

  • Committee received a report on Museum Archives. Report
  • Committee received a report on Museum Collections. Report
  • Committee received a report on Museum Education & Outreach. Report 
  • Committee received a report on Museum Marketing. Report
  • Committee received a report on Museum Programming. Report
  • Committee received a report on Museum Revenue Development. Report

Human Services Committee

  • Committee received a report on 2021 Housing & Homelessness Plan Progress. Report

Long Term Care Homes Committee of Management

  • Committee received a report on 4 Hours of Direct Care and Allied Health Professional hours. Report
