Bruce County Council Meeting

Bruce County Council approved:

  • a by-law to delegate certain matters related to Consents, Part Lot Control By-laws passed by Local Municipalities, Validation Certificates, and Local Official Plans and Local Official Plan Amendments.


Communications

  • Council received a response to the County's request to meet to discuss Bill 23 and affordable housing in Bruce County from the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing. Communication
  • Council received communications from the Ministry of Health on one-time funding for 2022 and January - March, 2023 to support various Coronavirus Disease initiatives. Communication
  • Council received communications form Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators (CAMA) recognizing commitment of CAO Derrick Thomson for his fifteen years of municipal service in a management capacity. Communication


Delegations

  • Council received a presentation from Ontario Federation of Agriculture. Presentation
  • Council received a presentation from Addictions & Mental Health Wellness and Treatment Centre and gave direction to Staff to prepare a report on funding options for a future meeting. Presentation


Motion

  • Council approved a Motion to respond to Independent Electricity System Operator's (IESO) Pathways to Decarbonization Study. Motion

Corporate Services Committee

  • Committee approved to re-allocate a total of $230,000 of Levy funds from the Bruce Road 6 East Capital Budget, to the Stephenson Bridge project ($70,000) and Schenks Bridge project ($160,000) and authorized to award the Bridge Rehabilitation Work 2023 Contract to McLean Taylor Construction Ltd.   • Committee approved the reserve balances totaling $83,930.43 be transferred to the Information Technology Computer Hardware Reserve for centralized use in maintaining and replacing the County’s photocopiers. Report
  • Committee directed staff to update the Bruce County Awards and engage the secondary and post-secondary schools to amend and update the awards criteria. Report

Paramedic Services Committee

  • Committee received a report on 2022 Call Volumes. Report

Human Services Committee

  • Committee approved updates to the Child Activity Assistance Program for implementation. Report
  • Committee received a report summarizing discussions from the 2023 Bruce County Municipal Housing Forum. Report

  • Committee received a report on Inclusive Community Grants. Report

Museum Committee

  • Committee approved the rental of “True or False” feature exhibition for the 2024 summer season and authorized the Director of Museum & Cultural Services to sign the rental contract with Musee Nature Science of Sherbrooke, Quebec to secure the exhibition for 2024 summer season. Committee also approved the full previously paid deposit of $6,250 be redirected to this exhibition. Report

Planning & Development Committee

Long Term Care Homes Committee of Management

  • Committee approved the LTC Home Service Accountability Agreement. Report
