BCM&CC to host screenings for National Canadian Film Day
On April 19, the BCM&CC celebrates the 10th Anniversary of National Canadian Film Day with screenings in the Museum’s Bruce Power Theatre of two award-winning films that highlight the power, diversity, and craft of Canadian film.
Showing at 10:00 AM, Beans (2020), a gripping drama directed by Mohawk-Canadian filmmaker Tracey Deer. This film explores the 1990 Oka Crisis through the eyes of a young Mohawk girl named Tekehentahkhwa, nicknamed “Beans,” whose life is transformed by these events.
Showing at 1:00 PM, C.R.A.Z.Y. (2005), a moving coming-of-age drama set in Quebec during the 1960s and 1970s. This film tells the story of Zac, a young gay man navigating homophobia while growing up with four brothers and his father. Directed by the late Jean Marc Vallée, a Canadian filmmaker, editor and screenwriter from Montreal.
