Bruce County and Regional Partners Looking to Procure Services to Enhance EV Charging Network

Bruce County and their regional partners in the SW Ontario Regional EV Strategy are seeking consultant support to bring up to 16 “Level 3” Fast Charger locations and 13 “Level 2” Charger locations to the region.

Bruce County and their regional partners in the SW Ontario Regional EV Strategy are seeking consultant support to bring up to 16 “Level 3” Fast Charger locations and 13 “Level 2” Charger locations to the region. The Partners, along with their Consultant (Community Energy Association), encourage interested consultants to explore the open Request For Proposal (RFP) and submit applications on NRCan ZEVIP. In 2022, the partnership of Wellington County, Dufferin County, Perth County, Huron County, Bruce County, Grey County, City of Guelph, City of Stratford, and the Nuclear Innovation Institute created a strategy to bring EV Charging facilities to our Region. Specifically in Bruce County, the Regional EV Charging Network Strategy identifies 7 recommended locations for the siting of “Level 3” Direct Current Fast Charging stations (D.C.F.C.s), including Ferndale, Kincardine, Lion’s Head, Lucknow, Paisley, Southampton or Saugeen Shores, Tobermory, and Wiarton.

“Continuing to pursue clean energy opportunities will help our region move towards a more carbon neutral and environmentally sustainable future and will create game-changing opportunities for visitors and residents”, said Bruce County Warden Chris Peabody.

Bruce County has installed 5 “Level 2” chargers at 4 facility locations that are accessible to the public. This is part of the County’s carbon reduction initiatives. Discover EV charging stations at the Bruce County Administration Centre (30 Park Street, Walkerton), the Peninsula Hub (268 Bedford Street, Wiarton), the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre (33 Victoria Street, Southampton), and the Penetangore Hub (529 Gary Street, Kincardine).
