Sheltering Supports Are Available For Homeless Residents of Bruce County

Bruce County, as the service system manager for housing and homelessness, administers, funds, and delivers programs and services to obtain and sustain housing.

(United Way Bruce Grey Saugeen Shores Event) bring awareness to local charities serving people experiencing hunger and homelessness, it’s important to affirm local homelessness response programs and services are available in Bruce County.

One of the programs funded by Bruce County is the YMCA Rural Housing and Homelessness Outreach, which has a priority of ensuring safety and access to basic needs. Anyone that is homeless, or at risk of homelessness, can contact a YMCA Housing Outreach Worker who will assist in securing a safe place to stay for the night and provide support to create an action plan to find and maintain long-term sustainable housing.

Bruce County also utilises the universal 211 service to help people connect to community, social, health, and government services in their communities. 211 services are available 24/7 and can assist vulnerable individuals with accessing housing support after hours. Individuals will then be connected with a YMCA Housing Outreach Worker for further assistance. Services are available by dialing 2-1-1 or by visiting the Bruce & Grey Community Information website at www.brucegreycommunityinfo.cioc.ca.
