Council / Committee Meetings – Thursday, July 6, 2023

Bruce County Council Meeting

  • Council received communications from the Environment Office of Saugeen Ojibway Nation. Communication
  • Council approved to support AMO requesting legislation to strengthen municipal Codes of Conduct and compliance. Report
  • Council approved a by-law to appoint a Deputy Clerk. By-Law

Planning & Development Committee

  • Committee approved the Revised Fee Schedule and directed staff to place the necessary by-law on an upcoming Council agenda for approval. Committee approved that a pre-submission consultation by-law be prepared to implement mandatory consultation for Official Plan Amendments, Zoning By-law Amendments, Plans of Subdivision/Condominium, and applications that require an Environmental Impact Assessment, and directed staff to place the necessary by-law on an upcoming Council agenda for approval. Committee authorized the recruitment of a full time Intermediate Planner in 2023 and will consider a Land Division Secretary-Treasurer and Senior Planner positions as part of the 2024 budget process. Committee authorized staff to request the Minister to prescribe Bruce County and all eight lower tier municipalities as exempt from fee refunds outlined in Section 34 (10.12) of the Planning Act. Corporate Services Committee

  • Committee received a Q2 2023 Summary of Purchasing Policy Suspension Approvals. Report
  • Committee received a Q2 2023 Summary of Awarded Tenders. Report

Transportation & Environmental Services Committee

  • Committee authorized staff to engage Triton Engineering Services Limited in a third-party review for the Durham Street Bridge Replacement project (Walkerton) in the amount of $24,900 plus taxes, funded through the 2023 Capital Bridge Reserve. Report
  • Committee approved the removal of four County-owned road widening parts, and part of the former Bruce Road 6 original 66’ road allowance, between Lake Range Drive and Highway 21, now referred to as Concession 8 in Huron-Kinloss, from the County Road System for the purpose of transferring the original 66’ road allowance and road widening parts to the Township of Huron-Kinloss. The Clerk is directed to prepare a by-law for consideration at an upcoming meeting of Council. Committee approved that By-law 2022-099 be repealed. Report
  • Committee received correspondence from the Municipality of Brockton on the Durham Street Bridge. Report

Museum Committee

  • Committee approved that the items listed in the July 2023 Collections deaccession list receive deaccession from the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre’s collection. Report
  • Committee received the July 2023 Archives Report. Report
  • Committee received a July 2023 report on Museum Information Items. Report

Human Services Committee

  • Committee authorized the Housing Services Manager to execute a Memorandum of Understanding between Bruce County and the Town of Saugeen Shores to receive funds in the amount of $75,000.00 from the Town for the Municipal Housing Allowance program. The funds will be utilized to deliver the Saugeen Shores Municipal Housing Allowance to eligible residents. Report
  • Committee approved that a by-law be introduced authorizing the Warden and Clerk to execute a service agreement between Westario Power Inc. and Bruce County for the provision of the Ontario Electricity Support Program (OESP) and the Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP). By-law 2021-050, which reflected a former version of said agreement, will be rescinded. Report

  • Committee received a report on Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness - Built for Zero. Report

Paramedic Services Committee

  • Committee received a report on the Community Paramedicine for Long-Term Care funding extension. Report
