The Muse-Talks series continues at the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre on October 11 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a double-feature presentation on new technologies that are revolutionizing both the healthcare and maritime industries, featuring guest speakers from Georgian College.

Dr. Treva Job, manager of the Simulation Centre for Health, Wellness, and Sciences at Georgian College, will guide guests through a hands-on demonstration with hi-tech nursing manikins—the latest in educational healthcare technology.

In this talk, Dr. Treva will show guests the real-life scenarios that manikins are able to simulate to prepare nurses for a wide variety of medical situations, how the virtual feedback they produce can prevent future errors, and how this technology is evolving as a result of AI.

In the second half of the evening, Captain Colin MacNeil, an instructor in Georgian College’s Marine Navigation and Marine Engineering advanced diploma program, will present his talk on how technology is revolutionizing the maritime world.

Captain MacNeil will be joined by team members at the Centre for Marine Training and Research (CMTR), recognized as Central Canada’s marine centre of excellence, and will discuss the significance of the marine sector in everyday life and how simulation of live-fire and in-water training is helping to prepare mariners for emergency events on the open water.

Tickets are available at brucemuseum.ca and are $10 for Museum Members and $20 for Non-Members.

Grade 11 and 12 students enrolled in Health and Wellness Specialist High Skills Majors (SHSMs) or Marine Navigation and Marine Engineering Programs will receive FREE admission to this event at the door. All other students receive special admission price of $6.

The Muse Talks program is proudly presented by Georgian College.
