Weight Restricted Roads

Update: Effective at 9:00 a.m. April 22, 2025, Bruce County Transportation & Environmental Services Department will be lifting weight/load restrictions of 5 tonne per axle on Bruce County roads.

Sign on bridge saying maximum weight 5 tonnes

There are several roads throughout the Bruce County Transportation & Environmental Services Department's jurisdiction that require weight restrictions/load posting during spring thaw conditions.

Weight restriction timelines and date ranges are dependent upon road conditions and the status of frost presence in the road base.

The Bruce County Transportation and Environmental Services Department endeavors to notify the public with as much notice as possible as to when the restrictions will come into effect and when they will be lifted.

Weight restrictions typically come into effect early March and are lifted in late April.

When weight restrictions are in effect, a vehicles weight may not exceed 5 tonne per axle.
