Weight Restricted Roads
Restrictions during the spring thaw protect the integrity of our road infrastructure and preserve the life span of Bruce County roads. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
There are several roads throughout the Bruce County Transportation & Environmental Services Department's jurisdiction that require weight restrictions/load posting during spring thaw conditions.
Weight restriction timelines and date ranges are dependent upon road conditions and the status of frost presence in the road base.
The Bruce County Transportation and Environmental Services Department endeavors to notify the public with as much notice as possible as to when the restrictions will come into effect and when they will be lifted.
Weight restrictions typically come into effect early March and are lifted in late April.
When weight restrictions are in effect, a vehicles weight may not exceed 5 tonne per axle.

NOTICE: Road Rehabilitation Taking Place on Bruce Road 6E in MildmayPlease take notice that road rehabilitation will be taking place on Bruce Road 6E, from George Street to Kleist Street, in Mildmay, Ontario. Expect minor disruptions during the project, such as laneway access and a minor period of water shut off to affected residents. Notices will be provided 24 hours in advance. Motorists can expect a daily road closure from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM in place starting Monday, July 29, 2024, and ending in October 2024.

NOTICE: Fischer Bridge Rehabilitation on Bruce Road 6 east of TeeswaterPlease take notice that bridge rehabilitation repairs will be taking place at Fischer Bridge on Bruce Road 6, between Bruce Road 4 and Bruce Road 12, east of Teeswater, Ontario. Motorists can expect a full bridge closure, with traffic control measures in place starting Monday, July 22, 2024, and ending in September 2024.
