Bruce County Reminds Public of Housing Supports on National Housing Day

Bruce County acknowledges Wednesday, November 22, 2023 as National Housing Day.

Bruce County, as the service system manager for housing and homelessness, administers, funds, and delivers programs and services to obtain and sustain housing. However, this important work can’t be done alone and we are appreciative of the collaborative work together with community partners to ensure everyone has a safe and stable place to stay.  

Bruce County has recently developed two Affordable Housing Toolkits to encourage developers, builders, landlords, and homeowner to help create affordable housing in Bruce County. Each toolkit, one for multi-residential and ground related affordable housing developers, and one for homeowners or landlords who could intensify their properties through the development of additional residential units, provides information on the context for affordable housing creation in Bruce County and its local municipalities, with step-by-step guides and other resources to support affordable housing development projects.

To support vulnerable members of the region, Bruce County works in partnerships with community agencies who deliver housing and homelessness outreach services. These partnerships are necessary in our rural community to enable people to build strong networks of support to develop a strong future. One of the programs funded by Bruce County is the YMCA Emergency Shelter Program, which has a priority of ensuring safety and access to basic needs. Bruce County also utilizes the universal 211 service to help people connect to community, social, health, and government services in their communities. Services are available 24/1 by calling 211 or by visiting the Bruce & Grey Community Information website at brucegreycommunityinfo.cioc.ca.
