Weight Restricted Roads
There are several roads throughout the Bruce County Transportation & Environment Services Department's jurisdiction that require weight restrictions/load posting during spring thaw conditions.
Weight restriction timelines and date ranges are dependent upon road conditions and the status of frost presence in the road base.
The Bruce County Transportation and Environmental Services Department endeavors to notify the public with as much notice as possible as to when the restrictions will come into effect and when they will be lifted.
Weight restrictions typically come into effect early March and are lifted in late April.
When weight restrictions are in effect, a vehicles weight may not exceed 5 tonne per axle.

Upcoming Lane Closures on Sweiger Bridge North of ChesleyPlease take notice that bridge rehabilitation repairs will be taking place this spring/summer at Sweiger Bridge on Bruce Road 10 North of Chesley, Ontario. Motorists can expect lane closures on the bridge, with traffic control measures in place starting May 6, 2024, and ending in July 2024.

Bruce Road 6 East (Absalom St E), Meax Creek Bridge, & Fischer Bridge Rehabilitation Pre-Construction Information Session on May 9, 2024Residents are invited to attend Pre-Construction Information Session on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at the Mildmay-Carrick Recreation Complex (24 Vincent Street, Mildmay, ON). This Information Session will take place from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM with brief presentations at 6:00 PM.
